BREVARD, N.C. --- The Tusculum University men's and women's cross country teams each finished fourth overall at the inaugural Brevard XC Classic, held Saturday morning at Brevard College.

Sophomore Simon Ray and grad student Tashianna Gray each finished in the top half of their respective races for the Pioneers, who will return to action on Saturday, September 28 at the Akiah McMillan Invitational in Newberry, South Carolina.

MEN'S RECAP
Ray was the top finisher for the Pioneers, taking 20th overall with a time of 29:10.2 over the 8-kilometer course. Freshman Levi Carson was 39th in 29:39.3, followed by freshman Ryan Harn in 40th place at 29:42.0.

Senior Ryan Drysch took 46th place in a time of 30:42.5, with freshman Konnor Weaver in 53rd place at 31:55.0 and freshman Jack Watson taking 57th place at 32:34.4.

Milligan had the top nine finishers and 13 of the top 14, led by Ryan Woodall who ran 24:41.1 to beat Zimri Kuhn to the line by 42 seconds. The Buffaloes scored 15 points to win the team title, followed by UNC Asheville (61), Lees-McRae (64), Tusculum and Spartanburg Methodist (129 points apiece) and Brevard (168).

WOMEN'S RECAP
Gray was the Pioneers' top finisher as she took 19th overall in a time of 20:12.5 over the 5-kilometer course. Freshman Sofia Cuesta Fuoss finished 28th in 21:58.0, and grad student Megan Humiston was 35th overall in 22:57.2.

Finishing back-to-back were grad student Alyana Suitte in 40th place at 24:16.2 and junior Victoria Caliendo in 41st place at 24:27.0. Sophomore Sadie Blue was 45th overall with a time of 27:43.8.

Milligan claimed the top nine finishers and won the team title with 15 points, led by Ellen-Mary Kearney who was timed in 17:44.4 to beat teammate Alyssa Bearzi by 2.3 seconds. UNC Asheville was second with 66 points, with Lees-McRae (81), Tusculum (120), Spartanburg Methodist (121) and Brevard (159) rounding out the field.
