MORRISTOWN, Tenn. --- Tusculum College's Simon Holzapfel won his second straight meet this season, capturing individual honors at the Carson-Newman Challenge Saturday morning at Panther Creek State Park. The Tusculum men finished fourth in the team competition, while the TC women placed seventh.

Holzapfel, a senior from Nuremburg, Germany, won the 8,000-meter race in 26:22.71 for the fourth-fastest time in school history. The 2009 South Atlantic Conference Runner of the Year wins his 12th career individual title and now owns the eight best 8K times in school history.

Stephen Kinunda finished 22nd with his time of 31:04.82, while Ryan Badertscher posted a time of 31:44.58 to place 29th. Ben Hale finished 36 with 33:25.47, while Nathan Carver (35:28.78) and Chad Shelton (35:58.28) finished 41st and 42nd, respectively. Jason Seaton posted a time of 41:17.10 to finish 50th.

Jenny Grant led the Tusculum women with her 25th place finish with a time of 24:42.01 in the 5,000-meter event. Ana Sigmon placed 27th with 25:11.76, while senior Jessica Figler posted a time of 25:13.20 to finish 29th. Ashley Andrukonis (25:55.78) and Kim Brown (25:57.38) finished 34th and 35th, respectively to round out the Tusculum scoring.

Bryan College swept both races. In the men's meet, Bryan posted 28 points, while Milligan finished second with 69. Brevard placed third with 82 points, followed by Tusculum with 112 points. Tennessee Wesleyan and Lincoln Memorial tied for fifth place with 115 points, while Maryville finished seventh with 176.

The Bryan women won their meet with 46 points, seven ahead of host Carson-Newman (53). Milligan placed third with 64 points, followed by Tennessee Wesleyan (104), Lincoln Memorial (123), Brevard (142), Tusculum (150) and Maryville (195).

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday as they compete at the Wingate Invitational in Wingate, N.C.
