EMORY, Va. --- Tusculum University defeated Emory & Henry University 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Thursday afternoon at the Richardson Tennis Courts.
The Pioneers (9-11, 2-8 SAC) needed to win just two matches against the shorthanded Wasps (3-14, 0-10 SAC), who had just four players in their lineup.
In doubles, Ginevra Moreno Villa and Jimena Rivera Camacho defeated Katie Bradley and Sarah McClure 6-4 at flight two after the Wasps defaulted at flight three.
In singles play, the Pioneers went up 3-0 behind two forfeit wins, and then Carla Guasch clinched the victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win over McClure at flight four.
The Pioneers will close the regular season on Saturday, April 11 at 3 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex against nationally-ranked Catawba, which is the lone unbeaten team in the conference at 13-1 overall and 9-0 in league play.
