18th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne shuts out Pioneers

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Lenoir-Rhyne University defeated Tusculum University 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The 18th-ranked Bears (11-1, 8-0 SAC) handed the Pioneers (6-9, 0-6 SAC) their first sweep of the season and earned their fourth straight victory.

In doubles, the Bears went up 1-0 in the match as Runa Muderrisoglu and Mehetia Boosie defeated Ginevra Moreno Villa and Jimena Rivera Camacho 6-0 at flight two, and Nellie Wahlberg teamed with Alexa Allison for a 6-1 win over Carla Guasch and Sophia Amyes at flight three.

In singles, Sandra Mahbouli defeated Guasch 6-1, 6-1 at flight four, Boosie downed Rivera 6-1, 6-1 at flight five, and Disha Khandoji claimed a 6-1, 6-3 win over Amyes at flight six.

The Pioneers are home to take on Salem in a non-conference match on Monday, March 30 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
