HARROGATE, Tenn. --- Lincoln Memorial University took a 4-1 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Tuesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.
The Railsplitters (6-2, 2-1 SAC) earned the doubles point from the Pioneers (6-5, 0-3 SAC) then won three singles matches in straight sets to improve to 6-0 at home this season.
Tusculum opened doubles with Ylva Frafjord Landa and Emma Kotzmannova defeating Marta Melnichenok and Lucie Palud 6-1 at flight one, but Alexandra Ortiz Peres and Mar Garcia Bucosa beat Ginevra Moreno Villa and Jimena Rivera Camacho 6-2 at flight three. At flight two, LMU's Adriana Pellizzari and Natalia Reimer claimed a 6-2 win over Carla Guasch and Sophia Amyes to give the Railsplitters a 1-0 lead in the match.
Lincoln Memorial stretched its lead to 3-0 as Ortiz defeated Amyes 6-1, 6-0 at flight six and Mia Rodriguez Luna downed Rivera 6-1, 6-2 at flight five. Landa gave the Pioneers a point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Carla Ramonet at flight one, but Rosalie Carrier-Dulac clinched the win for the Railsplitters as she defeated Guasch 6-4, 6-3 at flight four.
Tusculum visits Coker for a SAC match on Saturday, March 14 against the Cobras, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Coker Tennis Courts.
