BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. --- The Tusculum University women's tennis team picked up its second straight victory with a 4-0 non-conference win at Montreat College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Pioneers (3-2) won both doubles matches and earned victories in the first two completed singles matches to close out the win over the Cavaliers (2-6).
In doubles, Ylva Frafjord Landa and Emma Kotzmannova teamed to defeated Clara Roman and Catalina Pan 6-1 at flight one, and Ginevra Moreno Villa and Sophia Amyes downed Yamile Cuiza and Ana Marija Horvacki by a 6-2 score at flight two to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead.
In singles, Amyes shut out Kathryn Salazar 6-0, 6-0 and Moreno downed Cuiza 6-2, 6-0 to clinch the win for the Pioneers. Tusculum led in two of the three unfinished matches, with Landa up 6-0, 4-0 on Roman at flight one when the match ended.
The Pioneers will be on the court Wednesday when they travel to King for a 1 p.m. match with the Tornado.
