TEMPE, Ariz. --- Tusculum University senior Valentina Loretz and sophomore Ylva Frafjord Landa are included in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Women's Southeast Region singles rankings. Landa is eighth in the region while Loretz is 20th among all women's players in the Southeast Region, through fall competition.
Landa compiled an 8-1 record in fall matches, advancing to the ITA Southeast Region singles quarterfinals before taking her only loss of the fall in three sets to fourth-ranked Johanna Lippert of North Georgia. The Sandnes, Norway native defeated 11th-ranked Jada Young of Georgia College in the round of 16 at the ITA Regionals.
Loretz posted a 5-2 record during fall action, and was eliminated from the ITA Regional in the round of 32 by top-ranked Nadja Meier of Flagler. The native of San Mateo Atenco, Mexico lost a total of one game in her final three singles matches of the fall.
The Pioneers (2-0) will resume competition with an exhibition match at Western Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 20.
