HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. --- Katelyn Doss rallied from a set down to clinch the deciding point to lead the Tusculum women's tennis team to its seventh straight victory as the Pioneers defeated Northern Kentucky 6-3 Wednesday morning.

Tusculum improves to 8-1 on the season and is a perfect 7-0 in the spring, including three wins in as many matches this week at Hilton Head. NKU falls to 2-4 on the year.

Playing singles play first, Tusculum captured five of the six matches to clinch the match prior to doubles play. Holly Verner, Courtney Conley, Taylor Patterson and Kate Hutchinson all won their respective singles matches in straight sets to give the Pioneers four points. NKU's Whitney Thomas salvaged the only singles point at the No. 5 flight with her 6-3, 6-1 win over Megan Buckmaster.

Doss sealed the team win against Claire Spradlin at No. 2 singles. Doss dropped the opening set 6-2, but rallied with a 6-4 win in the second frame and closed out the victory with an 11-9 win in a super tiebreaker in the third set.

The No. 2 doubles duo of Patterson and Conley were victorious with a grueling 9-7 win over Marta Romeo and Thomas.

Tusculum will open South Atlantic Conference play next Friday (Mar. 16) as the Pioneers take on Newberry for a 2 p.m. match.
