GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The No. 13 Francis Marion University women's tennis team remained undefeated on the season as the Patriots posted an 8-1 win over host Tusculum College Saturday at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
FMU (6-0) swept the three doubles matches, while capturing points at five of the six singles bouts.
Jitka Gavdunova and Mona Blauen defeated the No. 1 doubles pairing of Courtney Conley and Megan Buckmaster, 8-4 at pro sets.
Gavdunova, the No. 35 ranked player in NCAA Division II, followed with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Conley at singles top flight.
Tusculum's lone point of the match game at No. 6 singles as Katie Hills rallied from a set down to defeat FMU's Kathryn Vernon, 6-7, 6-4, 10-2.
The Pioneers (4-2) return to action Sunday afternoon as they travel to the University of Virginia's College at Wise for a 1 p.m. contest.
