Five Pioneers named to CSC Academic All-District women's soccer team

AUSTIN, Texas --- Five Tusculum University student-athletes have been named to the 2024 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® 3 Women's Soccer team as selected by the College Sports Communicators.

Earning Academic All-District® honors for the Pioneers are: Wilma Axelsson, Tanna Bookhamer, Marja Enste, Sydney Grant and Brynn Stokes.

The 2024 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

District 3 is comprised of colleges and universities representing the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, must be at least a sophomore and played in 90 percent of their team's matches or start in 67 percent of their contests.

Axelsson, a junior midfielder from Ytterby, Sweden, returns to the CSC Academic All-District Team and has a 3.89 GPA majoring in business administration. She is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.

Axelsson has started in 11 matches for the Pioneers where she is tied for third on the team with six points including two goals and two assists. She is also a 2023-24 recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

Bookhamer, a sophomore forward from Greeneville, Tennessee, has a 4.00 GPA and is majoring in biology. She is a member of the President's List, SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Dean's List, Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.

Bookhamer finished the 2024 campaign with six points including two goals and two assists. In her two seasons at Tusculum, she has played in 32 matches with 25 starts.

Enste, a junior defender from Aachen, Germany, is a sport management major and has a 3.99 GPA. The 2023 CSC Academic All-District honoree is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Dean's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. She was the recipient of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award and was also honored with the 2021-22 Tusculum Freshman of the Year Academic Award.

Enste has been the anchor of the Tusculum back line during her 50-match career where she has started in every outing including all 16 contests in 2024. She led the team with her 1,411 minutes played on the pitch.

Grant, a junior forward from Schaumburg, Illinois, has a double major in criminal justice and psychology where she has a 3.70 GPA. She returns to the CSC Academic All-District Team for a second straight season and was a 2023 All-SAC second selection. Last year, she was the recipient of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award.

In 2024, Grant started in all 16 matches where she led the team with five assists to go along with her four goals and 13 total points. She scored the match-winning goal in Tusculum's 3-2 win over Shaw and dished out the match-winning assist in a 1-0 victory at Lees-McRae. In her 48-match career, she has accumulated 13 goals and 11 assists for 37 points. She has also been responsible for four match-winning goals.

Stokes, a sophomore defender from Cleves, Ohio, has a 3.83 GPA and is majoring in business administration. She is a member of the Dean's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List, Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Stokes earned starts in all 16 contests and finished second on the team with her 1,279 minutes played. She tallied two goals and a pair of assists for her six points. She has started in all 32 matches of her career which includes four goals and 10 total points.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in December.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-2025 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
