Women's soccer falls 4-0 at Queens in SAC Quarterfinal

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Logan Vitale recorded a pair of goals to lead third-seeded Queens University of Charlotte to a 4-0 win over No. 6-seed Tusculum College Tuesday night in the South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament quarterfinal at the Queens Sports Complex.

The Royals (11-5-2) advance to Friday night's semifinal against No. 2 Wingate University at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The Pioneers end their season with a 9-8-2 overall record.

Vitale scored her goals in a two-minute span in the opening half, tallying her third and fourth goals in the 31st and 33rd minutes.

Charlotte Ring scored on a penalty kick in the 58th minute, while Caitlyn Rodrigues capped off the scoring with her first goal of the season in the 60th minute.

Tusculum keeper Miriah Martin finished the match with eight saves as she went the distance for the visitors. Martin finishes the season with 90 saves, which are the ninth most by a Pioneer. Her six shutouts this season are tied for the eighth most in the TC record for a single-season.

The Pioneers extend their streak of having not recorded a losing campaign in 18 consecutive seasons. TC's last losing season came in 1997 when the Pioneers went 10-11-2.

Tuesday was the final match for Tusculum seniors Taylor Lewis, Gabrielle Whitt, Courtney Hackney, Antoinette Allen, Coneisha Waugh and Brittany Bowers.
