GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Payton DeHart and Taylor
Lewis recorded two goals each in leading the Tusculum College
women's soccer team to a 5-0 win over visiting Ohio Dominican
University Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Field.
The Pioneers (3-2) are riding a three-match winning streak entering
Wednesday's South Atlantic Conference opener at Queens University
of Charlotte. The league lid-lifter is slated to kick off at 5
p.m.
Dehart notched the first goal of the match in the 35th minute with a steal off a deflection near the front of the goal and beat ODU keeper Kelsey Harris one-on-one.
Tusculum added another goal in the 39th minute when a corner kick went into the penalty area, was deflected by several players and Carlie Thornber hauled in the rebound and chipped it across the goal line for a 2-0 lead.
In the 52nd minute, Lewis received a pass on a counter from Carly Mills and scored in the back left corner for her third goal of the season.
DeHart added her second goal of the contest at the 68:50 mark when she blasted a shot from 15 yards away to the upper corner for a 4-0 lead.
Lewis capped the scoring in the 85th minute with her second scoring tally of the day as she received a long kick by TC keeper Miriah Martin and broke away from the pack and beat the keeper one-on-one.
Martin posted her second shutout of the week while tallying three saves. Harris posted one save of the 11 shots she faced in going the distance.
