GREENVILLE, S.C. --- Tusculum shot an aggregate team score of 311 and is in eighth place after the opening round of the 2025 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at The Preserve at Verdae and played on the par-72, 5,808-yard layout.

Tusculum junior Reagan Padilla was the low Pioneer on the day as she posted a one-over par 73 and is tied for 12^th place. She bogeyed two of her first five holes, but shot one under for the next four holes to close out her opening nine with 37. She posted a bogey and seven pars before tallying a birdie on her final hole.

Anderson, the top-ranked team in NCAA Division II, leads after day one with a five-under par total of 283, seven shots in front of No. 3 Wingate (290). Lincoln Memorial is third with 292, while Catawba and Limestone are tied for fourth place with 299. Carson-Newman is sixth with 303, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne (304), Tusculum (312), Coker (320), Newberry (335), Mars Hill (342) and UVA Wise (347).

Wingate's Noelia Adkins is the 18-hole leader as she carded a four-under par 68 and leads by one shot over Anderson's Kennedy McGaha (69).

TU's Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen opened with a 78 and is tied for 28^th place. She had an up-and-down first nine which including two birdies, three bogeys, two double-bogeys and two pars as she went out in 41. She recorded bogeys on three of the first five holes on her second nine, but recorded back-to-back birdies followed by a pair of pars as she posted her second lowest 18 this season and her lowest round ever in the SAC Championship.

Freshman Maylei Hildenbrand fired a 79 to start her inaugural SAC Championship and is tied for 30^th. The duo of Annabelle Mozingo and Delfin Filiz each carded 81 and are tied for 35^th.

The second round of the championship will be played on Monday.
