ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University sophomore center Ni'Kiah Chesterfield has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending November 17, the SAC office announced Monday.
Chesterfield helped the Pioneers to two victories last week by averaging 28.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Tusculum defeated North Greenville 92-75 on Wednesday behind a game-high 23 points, eight rebounds and four blocks from Chesterfield, then the Pioneers defeated USC Aiken 95-78 on Saturday.
In Saturday's win, Chesterfield scored a career-high 34 points and made her first 13 shots from the field. She finished the game 15-for-16 from the floor, the second-best single-game shooting performance in program history and best in Division II so far this season. Chesterfield also had seven rebounds in the win.
For the season, the Murfreesboro, Tennessee native leads the SAC and ranks 10th in Division II in scoring at 22.5 points per game, and is second in the conference and 11th in the nation in shooting at 69.2 percent. Chesterfield has scored in double figures in all four games and also leads the team with six blocked shots.
The Pioneers (2-2) open their SAC schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at nationally-ranked Carson-Newman (3-0, 1-0 SAC), beginning at 5:30 p.m. from Holt Fieldhouse.
