Kayla Harris finished with game highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Wingate University to an 89-69 victory over Tusculum College in a South Atlantic Conference Women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Arena.

Shelby Tricoli added 18 points off the bench for the Bulldogs (3-1, 1-1 SAC), who outrebounded the Pioneers (0-3, 0-2 SAC) by a 50-39 margin, including 20 offensive boards.

Nequoiah Anderson matched her career high with 20 points for the Pioneers, while Jessica Hairston had her first career double-double as she finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots. However, Tusculum shot 36.2 percent (21-for-58) from the field as a team and committed 17 turnovers which Wingate turned into 18 points.

Four players finished in double figures for Wingate, as Amber Neely had 13 points and five rebounds and Janitsha Williams contributed 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Brooklyn Boston added five points and 10 rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench for the Bulldogs.

Blakeley Burleson finished with nine points, six rebounds and a career-high seven assists for the Pioneers, who received eight points and five rebounds from Kristen McMillion despite being limited to 13 minutes by foul trouble.

Except for a brief 4-3 Tusculum lead, Wingate led from start to finish as they built a 13-point first half lead and kept a double-figure advantage for the final 13 minutes of the contest.

Tricoli drilled three three-pointers in the opening half and scored a team-high 12 points to help Wingate to a 45-36 lead at the break. Anderson paced the Pioneers with a game-high 13 points in the first half as Tusculum shot 48 percent (12-for-25) from the field but committed 13 turnovers.

Harris took over in the second half for the Bulldogs, scoring 13 points and pulling seven rebounds after intermission. Wingate shot 44.1 percent (15-for-34) in the second half and limited Tusculum to just 27.3 percent (9-for-33), including 0-for-7 from three-point range.

Both teams got to the foul line 32 times as a combined 49 fouls were called in the game. Tusculum went 23-for-32 at the stripe while Wingate was 21-for-32 at the line in the game.

In addition to Hairston, fellow freshmen Elise Coberly and Maelyn Cutshaw enjoyed solid games for the Pioneers. Coberly hit a pair of three-pointers and finished with eight points and five rebounds, while Cutshaw added four points and four rebounds in 18 minutes of action.

The Pioneers will return to action Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Brevard at Pioneer Arena.
