The Tusculum College Women's basketball team is listed in the
latest NCAA Division II Women's basketball statistical report,
through games of Sunday, Feb. 26.
For the third straight week, junior guard Kendal Baxter is second
in the nation in free-throw percentage, and is now 14th in
three-point field goals per game. Senior forward Linda Aughburns is
tied for 44th in rebound average in this week's report.
Baxter is shooting 92.5 percent (74-for-80) at the free-throw line,
and trails only Peyton Adamson of Tarleton State (93.1 percent,
81-for-87) in this week's rankings. Baxter has made 28 consecutive
free throws and holds the Tusculum career record for free-throw
percentage at 89.1 percent (147-for-165).
In three-pointers per game, Baxter is now 14th at 2.81
three-pointers per contest, having made 73 threes in 26 games to
lead the SAC. Kayla Ayers of West Liberty has moved past Jasmine
Judge of Lander into the Division II lead with an average of 3.84
per game (96 in 25 games).
Aughburns is tied for 44th in rebounds per game at 9.4 (244 in 26
games), including 10 games of 10 rebounds or more. Aughburns has
slipped to fourth in the South Atlantic Conference in rebounds per
game, with Dana Hicks of Catawba leading all SAC players at 11.9
rebounds per game (sixth in Division II).
As a team, the Pioneers have climbed to 29th in three-point
field-goal percentage defense (27.0 percent). Tusculum is 32nd in
rebound margin with a differential of +6.1 rebounds per game and
38th in three-pointers made per game at 6.7 per game.
The Pioneers (17-9 overall) finished third in the South Atlantic
Conference with an 11-7 league record, and will host sixth-seeded
Newberry Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Pioneer Arena in a Food
Lion SAC Tournament quarterfinal game.
