NDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College junior Jasmine Gunn jumped another three spots in individual scoring in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II women's basketball statistics, announced NCAA officials Monday, entering this week ranked 11th in the nation in points per game.
The Pioneers (17-9) are listed in 15 individual and team categories, ranking 20th in the nation in team scoring with an average of 77.7 points per game. Tusculum is also ranked 51st in field goal percentage (42.9), 52nd in blocked shots (3.8), 54th in scoring margin (+8.5), 55th in rebounding margin (+4.3), and 72nd in steals (10.1).
Gunn is in the midst of a one-of-a-kind season for the Pioneers, averaging a career-high 20.2 points per game to rank 11th in the nation in individual scoring, thanks to an impressive scoring average of 28.8 markers per contest over her last five games. The 4-11 All-American is also ranked 15th in steals (3.1), and 25th in assists (5.1) to enter this week as the only player at any level of the NCAA to rank in the top 25 in all three categories in her respective division.
Junior Catherine Hintz continues to be ranked among the nation's leaders in blocked shots, entering the week listed 42nd in rejections (1.7). Senior Kat Spears is also listed among the nation's leaders in blocked shots, ranking 60th in the country in rejections per game (1.5).
Freshman Kendal Baxter is once again ranked among the nation's top 10 three-point shooters, entering this week ranked 10th in the NCAA Division II averaging 3.2 triples per game. The 5-5 guard is also ranked among the most accurate three-point shooters in the nation this season, having knocked down 36 percent of her attempts from long-range thus far.
Tusculum returns to the court on Wednesday when the fourth-seeded Pioneers host fifth-seeded Catawba College (15-12) in the quarterfinal round of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Pioneer Arena.
