INDIANAPOLIS --- The No. 21 Tusculum College women's
basketball team is ranked in the top 10 in four statistical
categories in the NCAA Division II final statistics, announced
college officials Monday.Tusculum (26-6) boasted the fourth-best scoring offense in the nation this season, averaging 83.4 points per game en route to the program's second consecutive South Atlantic Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Pioneers also ranked sixth in field goal percentage (46.6%), seventh in scoring margin (17.5), eighth in assist turnover ratio (1.14), 12th in blocked shots (4.9), and 19th in assists per game (17.4).
Jasmine Gunn finished her sophomore season ranked 11th in the nation with 5.8 assists per game en route to a WBCA All-America selection. The two-time All-SAC First Team honoree also ranked 32nd in assist turnover ratio (1.76), 80th in free throw percentage (82.0%) and 88th in field goal percentage (48.2%). Jasmine Parker is also listed 39th in assist turnover ratio (1.71).
Junior Stephany Neptune averaged a double-double for the second consecutive season, ranking 27th in the nation in rebounding (10.1). The All-SAC First Team selection also ranked 53rd in blocked shots (1.6) and 100th in free throw percentage (80.5%). Kat Spears finished the season ranked 69th in blocked shots (1.5).
Ashli Oliver and Nikki Van Dine combined to knock down 181 three-pointers this season as both seniors finished the campaign ranked in triples per contest. Van Dine finished the season ranked 13th in the nation with three triples per game while Oliver, the program's all-time leader in three-point field goals, knocked down 2.6 treys per contest. Oliver finishes her career ranked second on the NCAA Division II all-time list with 375 three-pointers, and concludes her TC tenure as the program and SAC all-time leader in both three-pointers made (375) and attempted (1,018).
The Pioneers are expected to return eight letter-winners next season, including All-SAC First Team selections Gunn and Neptune, after capturing their second consecutive conference title.
