ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University sophomore sprinter Qitarah Castlin has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 12, the SAC office announced Tuesday.
Castlin competed at the Tennessee Invite this weekend, winning the women's 100 meters with a time of 11.48 seconds and running the leadoff leg in the winning 4x100 relay that was timed in 44.50 seconds during competition on Saturday. She also ran a career-best in the 200 meters on Friday at 23.61 seconds, earning a third-place finish in the event.
Her time of 11.48 seconds is sixth-best in Division II this season in the 100 meters, while the Pioneers currently sit atop the 4x100 performance list with a time of 44.47 seconds set at the Electric City Invitational on April 3. The Griffin, Georgia native set the program record in the 400 meters (55.72 seconds) at Electric City, and is second on the program performance lists in both the 100 and 200.
The Pioneers will compete at the Aggie Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18 at North Carolina A&T.
