NEW ORLEANS, La. --- Six members of the Tusculum University men's and women's track and field teams have received NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region honors for the 2021 outdoor season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Men's All-Region honors went to freshmen Javell Brown and Javon Brown in the triple jump, along with senior Althiery Leontes in both the 110 and 400 hurdles. Women's All-Region honors were earned by junior Shanee Angol in the javelin, sophomore Faith Bostick in both the 100 and 200 meters, and senior Kenisha Stubbs in the 400 hurdles.
Javell Brown was recognized by the USTFCCCA as the Top Regional Performer in the triple jump, with his mark of 14.78 meters (48 feet, 6 inches) which won a gold medal at the South Atlantic Conference Championship. Brown, who hails from Auburndale, Florida, had three jumps of 46 feet or better during the outdoor season, with his top mark the third-best in program history.
Javon Brown was runner-up to his brother at the SAC Championship meet, with a season-best jump of 14.61 meters (47 feet, 11 1/4 inches) that ended as the third-best in the region for the 2021 season. Brown had a pair of jumps beyond 47 feet this spring, and owns the fourth-best mark in school history.
Leontes captured the gold medal in the 400 hurdles at the SAC Championship with a school-record time of 53.64 seconds, and was fourth in the 110 hurdles at 14.78 seconds. Both times were school records for the Fort Myers, Florida product, who owns the top three marks in both hurdle events in program history. Leontes' time in the 110 hurdles was fourth-best in the region while his 400 hurdles performance ranked second.
Angol shattered the school record in the javelin with her first throw of the season, a mark of 44.11 meters (144 feet, 9 inches) set at the LR Bears Open on March 21. The Grand Bay, Dominica native posted the top six marks in the javelin in program history during the 2021 season, including a silver medal at the SAC Championship at 41.10 meters (134 feet, 10 inches).
Bostick medaled in both the 100 and 200 meters at the SAC Championship, breaking her own school record with a season-best time of 11.90 seconds in the 100 finals to earn second place. In the 200 meters, Bostick was third in the finals at 24.89 seconds which was her fourth-best performance of the season. The Port St. Lucie, Florida native had her best time of the season in the 200 meters at the Catamount Classic on April 16, at 24.47 seconds. Bostick has the six fastest times in the 100 meters and seven of the eight-best times in the 200 in program history.
Stubbs was a gold medalist in the 400 hurdles at the SAC Championship for the Pioneers, running 1:03.37 to break what was at the time her school record by 3 1/2 seconds. Stubbs, who hails from Nassau, Bahamas, owns the six fastest 400 hurdle times in program history, along with the top seven times in the 100 hurdles.
The top five ranked individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay team. The SAC ranked third among all Division II conferences with a total of 159 honorees.
