Pioneers compete at Montreat Last Chance Meet

MONTREAT, N.C. --- Members of the Tusculum University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Montreat Last Chance Meet on Friday.

The Pioneer men finished 14th out of 33 scoring teams at the meet as Althiery Leontes won the 400 hurdles and Jontavus Walker placed second in the 400 meters. Tusculum's women were 18th out of 29 teams with all three of its entries placing in the top eight.

The Pioneers will participate in their final meet of the season on Saturday, May 15 at the Lee Last Chance Meet in Cleveland, Tennessee.

MEN'S RECAP
Leontes ran 54.31 seconds for his second-fastest time of the season, behind only his 53.64 seconds in winning the 400 hurdles at the SAC Championships last month.

Walker broke his own school record in the 400 meters for the third straight meet, crossing the line in 48.16 seconds to surpass his time of 48.50 seconds set in the finals of the SAC Championship.

Kyle Stanley also competed for the Pioneers, finishing 12th in the 200 meters at 24.28 seconds and 19th in the 400 meters at 53.49 seconds.

WOMEN'S RECAP
Competing in swirling winds, Shanee Angol earned a third-place finish in the javelin with a best throw of 35.66 meters (117 feet).

Kenisha Stubbs took fourth place in the 400 hurdles, as the SAC champion ran 1:05.01 for her second-best time of the season. Emily Coddington placed sixth in the 1500 meters, finishing in 5:00.55.
