ROCK HILL, S.C. ---

Tusculum College junior pitcher Kelly King was named to the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Softball All-Tournament Team, the conference announced Monday.

King started all three games for the Pioneers during the tournament, compiling a 1-1 record with a 1.48 earned run average over 23 2/3 innings of work. She allowed 20 hits and five earned runs, while striking out 11 and issuing eight walks.

The righthander from Nazareth, Pa. scattered five hits in a 2-1 complete-game win over Lincoln Memorial in the Pioneers' tournament opener on Thursday, then picked up a no-decision after tossing 10 2/3 innings in a 3-2 loss in 11 innings to eventual SAC Tournament runner-up Catawba on Friday. King finished the tournament with her second complete game of the weekend, a 2-0 loss to Mars Hill on Saturday morning in which she surrendered five hits across six innings of work.

Overall, King has a 14-7 record and a 2.14 earned run average in 31 appearances (21 starts), with 14 complete games and a school single-season record-tying seven shutouts. King allowed 137 hits in 150 2/3 innings of work, with 67 strikeouts and 43 walks, in her first season after transferring from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The Pioneers finished the SAC Tournament with a 31-19 overall record, the third straight season that Tusculum has broken the 30-win mark. The Pioneers won their first-ever SAC championship with a 13-5 league record, sweeping a doubleheader against runner-up Anderson on the final day of the regular season to clinch the title.

Lenoir-Rhyne won its fourth straight SAC Tournament championship by sweeping two games from Catawba in Sunday's championship round. The Bears placed four players on the All-Tournament team, led by tournament Most Valuable Player Jessica Fellmeth.
