Tusculum goes to King to end March

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team has one more match in March, a return trip to nearby King. Thursday night's (Mar. 31) showdown is set for a 7 p.m. first serve in Bristol.

RECAPPING THE WEEK
Tusculum (5-17) dropped a pair of road matches over the weekend to Queens and Limestone. TU broke the single-match service ace record with 13 against the Saints on Sunday.

Jake Whyte finished with the most kills in the road trip, landing 31. Colby Landry (20), Deklan Wingo (18), Dane Loup (18), Shaphar Grant (10), and Shaun Kampshoff (4) rounded out the offensive column. Wingo hit a fiery .387 as well. Kampshoff dished out nearly 10 assists per set for a total of 86. Landry upped his career-high to five aces in the thriller at Limestone, recording eight for the weekend. Wingo, Loup, and Kampshoff all had four aces, followed by a pair from Grant. Loup and Taylor West each scooped up 18 digs, while Kampshoff also reached double-digits with 12. At the net, Grant was credited with six block assists and Kampshoff was next up with four.

On the season, Whyte leads the offense with 234 kills, while Landry follows with 153. Loup and Grant are close behind with 140 and 129 kills, respectively. Kampshoff has handed out 679 assists and landed 43 service aces. Five Pioneers have at least 85 digs on the season: Kampshoff (100), West (98), Loup (96), Whyte (88), and Landry (87). Grant has tallied 55 blocks (14 solo, 41 assists), ahead of Wingo's 46 (10 solo, 36 assists).

Nationally, Tusculum ranks 12th in aces per set (1.52) and 28th in attacks per set (26.39). Individually, Kampshoff is seventh in aces per set (.537) and 29th in assists per set (8.45). Whyte is 17th in attacks per set (8.03).

LOOKING AHEAD
King (12-11) will face off against the Pioneers in the Tornado's final non-conference match of the regular season. Suetonius Harris has landed 211 kills, followed by Joshua Kim with 161 (3.74 per set). Jack Sarnowski has dished out over 10 assists per frame, totaling 515 thus far. Harris and Sarnowski lead the Tornado in aces with 20 and 16, respectively. Noah Melendez has scooped up 193 digs, ahead of 114 by JT Deppe. Aaron Milstead is credited with 59 total blocks (six solo, 53 assists). Sean Haberthy's 10 solo blocks are accompanied by 37 assists.
