EMORY, Va. --- Tusculum University defeated Emory & Henry University 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis Tuesday afternoon at the Richardson Tennis Courts.
The 27th-ranked Pioneers (17-3, 8-2 SAC) remain in third place in the SAC standings ahead of Saturday's regular-season finale against first-place Catawba, while the Wasps dropped to 0-17 overall and 0-10 in the SAC with the loss.
In doubles, Rens Verhaar and Will Gee defeated Nathan Spurling and Tristan Hicks 6-0 at flight two, and Angus Howard teamed with Reese McCann for a 6-2 win over Bangalie Turay and Leo Knothe at flight one.
In singles, Shuzo Uemura defeated Gus Senn 6-1, 6-1 at flight six and Sarthak Sharma took a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Tristan Hicks at flight five. Gee clinched the victory at flight two as he beat Turay 6-2, 6-1.
Saturday's match with Catawba will begin at noon at the Nichols Tennis Complex. The Indians enter the week 13-1 overall and 9-0 in conference play.
