MARS HILL, N.C. --- Tusculum University swept Mars Hill University 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers (7-9, 5-4 SAC) won the doubles point from the Lions (2-12, 1-8 SAC) then won the first three completed singles matches in straight sets to finish off the sweep.
In doubles, Will Gee and Rens Verhaar beat Paul-Antonie Pelze and Sasha Molina 6-4 at flight one, and Nathan Matsuguma teamed with Angelos Avgeris for a 6-3 win over Collin Maides and Ishamael Dowuoua at flight three.
In singles, Gee defeated Pelzer 6-2, 6-2 at flight one, Matsuguma beat Molina 6-4, 6-3 at flight three and Kai Poelchau earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Diell Mehmedi at flight five.
The Pioneers host 11th-ranked Wingate University on Saturday, April 5 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
