BREVARD, N.C. --- Pablo Laguna accounted for his second consecutive match-winner as the Tusculum College men's soccer team shut out Brevard College 1-0 Wednesday afternoon at the BC Soccer Field.

With the victory the Pioneers (6-3-1, 3-1-1 SAC) earn an important three points and move into a three-way tie for third place with 10 points in the league standings along with Brevard (3-6-1, 3-2-1 SAC) and Lincoln Memorial University (6-2-1, 3-2-1 SAC).

Laguna scored his team-leading third goal of the year in the 42nd minute as he scored from close range on a tapped ball next to the goal. The winning score was assisted by Guillermo Lazcano for his second assist of the 2015 campaign.

Laguna also scored the match-winning goal in Tusculum's 1-0 SAC victory against Newberry College last Friday night in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Tusculum sophomore goalkeeper Jorge Alvarez recorded his conference-leading fifth shutout of the season as he finished the match with three saves.

Tusculum out-shot BC by a 13-9 margin, while also holding an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Pioneers return to action this Sunday afternoon as they host Coker College for Homecoming 2015. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
