AUSTIN, Texas --- Tusculum University men's lacrosse student-athlete Ross Geiger has been named to the NCAA Division Academic All-America® Men's At-Large second team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Geiger, a goalkeeper from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, becomes the first Academic All-American® in program history.
The Academic All-America® Men's At-Large program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Geiger graduated from Tusculum last month with summa cum laude honors while majoring in business administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship.
He finished with an impressive 3.99 cumulative grade point average and is a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, President's List, Dean's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List. He is also a member of the Alpha Chi Honors Society and is a two-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.
He started in 15 games this year while helping the Pioneers to a 9-7 overall record for the program's third consecutive winning season. He established a TU and SAC single-season record 225 saves in 2022. He finished the year with a .514 save percentage and goals against average of 14.67. He made a TU and SAC single-game record 30 saves against Newberry earlier this season.
Geiger established a program record with his 551 career saves, which are the fourth-most in SAC history. His 26 career goalie victories are also the most ever by a Pioneer.
Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-2022 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
