GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's lacrosse team is receiving votes in this week's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division II Coaches poll, the USILA announced Monday.
The Pioneers (7-0, 1-0 South Atlantic Conference) are receiving votes for the third straight week and are among 16 teams listed outside the Top 20 in the national rankings. Tusculum defeated Mars Hill 16-9 on Saturday to extend its school-record winning streak to seven in a row, as well as continue the best start in school history.
Tusculum leads the SAC in goals per game (17.29) and in goals against average (8.43), led on offense by senior Nate Raymond who leads the SAC with 44 points and is third in the conference with 30 goals. On defense, senior Ross Geiger is third in the conference in both saves (72) and goals against average (9.27).
The top four teams in the poll are unchanged, led by Le Moyne (3-0) and followed by Tampa (4-0), UIndy (5-0) and Wingate (4-1), with Adelphi (2-0) in fifth. In addition to Wingate, ranked SAC schools are Limestone (4-1, 8th), Lenoir-Rhyne (4-2, 10th) and Queens (4-0, 12th). Newberry and Anderson are also receiving votes along with the Pioneers.
Tusculum will visit Newberry on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Wolves (2-2, 0-1 SAC) will play at 18th-ranked Mount Olive on Tuesday ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Pioneers.
