GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University golf coach Ross Cash has announced the Pioneers' 2019-2020 men's schedule. TU will be competing in several new events as well as playing in some annual tournament stops that have become staples of the program. (Full Schedule)
The Pioneers will be hosting a unique event right out of the gate with the Bob Dibble Match Play Championship, which will be held at Graysburg Hills Golf Club in Chuckey, Tennessee with all proceeds of the event going to benefit the Niswonger Children's Hospital.
The three-day, match-play format will feature teams from Tusculum, King University, Lincoln Memorial University, Mars Hill University, Shorter University, Walters State College and Wingate University.
Tusculum will officially open the season Sep. 16-17 as the Pioneers make the short trip to Johnson City for the Mars Hill Invitational. This year's event will take place at the Johnson City Country Club.
A week later, Tusculum will remain in the Tri-Cities area and participate at the King Invitational at the Country Club of Bristol, Sep. 23-24.
Tusculum opens the month of October with the State Farm Intercollegiate (Oct. 7-8), which will be hosted by Lincoln Memorial at Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell, Tennessee. TU will get a preview of the site of the 2020 South Atlantic Conference Championship which will be held at Woodlake. The Pioneers return to LMU's fall tournament for the first time since 2016. TU has traditionally played well at Woodlake posting top-four finishes in seven of its last eight trips including a team championship at the 2010 event.
Tusculum closes out the fall campaign with the Walters State Fall Classic at the Country Club of Morristown, Oct. 14-15. The Pioneers recorded a third place showing at last year's event and have won this tournament on three occasions (2012, 2014, 2015).
The Pioneers will be at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate on Feb. 10-11 in St. Augustine, Florida and will be conducted at the St. Johns Country Club.
Tusculum makes its annual trip to Salisbury, North Carolina on Mar. 2-3 for the Richard Rendleman Invitational. The tournament is hosted by Catawba College as TU is making its 19th trip to this event.
The Pioneers will compete at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, Mar. 15-17 at the Sevierville Golf Club. The event is hosted by Tennessee Tech and has traditionally included a field of Division I competition as well as other collegiate teams from around the region.
The Pioneers will host the 27th annual Tusculum Invitational on Mar. 23-24 at Link Hills Country Club. This will mark the first time that TU's men's spring tournament has been competed on Monday and Tuesday, instead of its traditional Saturday-Sunday format. The Pioneers have won this event in four of the last five years and 10 times overall including a victory in last year's tournament.
The regular season wraps up on Mar. 30-31 for the Tennessee River Rumble, which is held in Loudon, Tennessee at Wind River Golf Club and hosted by LMU.
Prior to the SAC Championship, Tusculum will host a unique event with the inaugural East Tennessee Tri-Senior Day Event, which will be held on Apr. 13 at a site yet to be determined. The one day event will feature the men's and women's teams of Tusculum, LMU and Carson-Newman University.
Tusculum will be at the 2020 SAC Championship on Apr. 19-21 and will be held for the first time in at Woodlake Golf Club and hosted by Lincoln Memorial. The winner of the tournament earns the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Tusculum captured its lone SAC Championship in 2015 and have finished runner-up in the event on three occasions.
The NCAA II Super Regional will be held May 4-6 at the Germantown Country Club and hosted by Christian Brothers University in Germantown, Tennessee. The NCAA National Championship will be conducted May 12-16 in St. Albans, Missouri.
