OWINGS MILLS, Md. --- The Tusculum University men's beach volleyball team fell twice on the final day of the Stevenson Invitational, as the Pioneers were swept by the hosting Mustangs and dropped the rematch to Erskine.
The Black and Orange (0-4) finishes out the season with a tournament in Greeneville next weekend (Oct. 4-5), bringing in nearly every men's beach volleyball team in existence.
Match 1: Stevenson 5, Tusculum 0
The bottom three flights needed a decisive third set to decide a winner.
At the 3's, Tyler Morrison and Riley Wisniakowski won the first set 22-20 before losing the next two frames 21-16, 15-6.
In the fourth flight, Kai Williams and Reef Mathis dropped the first set 21-14, battling back for a 21-18 win, but fell 15-7 in the third frame.
Joel Dubinsky and Patrick Gresham went the distance, coming up short 17-21, 28-26, 13-15.
At the top flight, Adam Svendsen and Deklan Wingo fell 21-13, 21-19.
Morgan Makovec and Aiden Roper dropped their No. 2 flight 21-15, 21-16.
Match 2: Erskine 4, Tusculum 1
Gresham and Dubinsky claimed the lone win of the day at No. 5 by scores of 21-13, 21-19.
Both of the top two flights went the distance against the Flying Fleet.
Svendsen and Wingo fell 21-19, 15-21, 10-15.
Roper and Makovec lost their 21-17, 20-22, 13-15 decision.
At the 3's, Wisniakowski and Morrison dropped their match 21-10, 21-16.
The Williams and Mathis duo went 16-21, 12-21 at No. 4.
