Clay Isbell was named to the Tusculum University football coaching staff in the Summer of 2021. He mentors the TU running backs while also serving as special teams coordinator.
Isbell came to Tusculum from NCAA FCS University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he was the Mocs defensive quality control coach. He served three years at the Chattanooga school where he was a defensive graduate assistant coach and coached the inside linebackers and special teams. He assisted with all facets of the UTC program including football operations.
He entered collegiate coaching at his alma mater Kentucky Wesleyan College where he was running backs coach during the 2017 season at the Owensboro, Kentucky school. He was a running back on the Panthers' football team.
He graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan in 2017 with a bachelor of science degree while majoring in exercise science, philosophy and ethical studies. He earned his masters degree in education in School Leadership: Teacher Leadership.
