HOUSTON, Texas --- Former Tusculum College
pitcher Boo Morrow has signed a professional
contract with the Coastal Kingfish of the Continental Baseball
League announced officials Friday.
Morrow, a 6-1, 190-pound right-hander from Lexington, Ky., is coming off one of the finest baseball careers in Tusculum history. He is ranked in the top 10 in school history in five statistical categories, including third in games started (29), seventh in strikeouts (132), ninth in earned run average (3.83), ninth in innings pitched (181.0) and 10th in wins (15). During his Pioneer career, he won his first 11 decisions en route to finishing with an impressive 15-4 record.
Morrow enjoyed his best season at Tusculum in 2008 as he emerged as the ace of the Pioneer pitching staff, posting a 7-0 record and a 2.00 ERA. He garnered All-America honorable mention recognition by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, while also earning a spot on the NCBWA All-South Region First Team, Daktronics All-Region First Team and the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region Team. The 2008 All-South Atlantic Conference First Team performer recorded 61 strikeouts in 2008 as the Pioneers posted a 41-15 record, while winning the SAC Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Morrow also shined off the diamond and was named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV College Division II Second Team. He was named to the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll. He graduated from Tusculum this past May with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management.
During his career, Tusculum posted 167-61 combined record, including three SAC Championships and three NCAA postseason berths.
Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
