GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's beach volleyball team fell to Carson-Newman on Wednesday (Mar. 25). The rematch is scheduled for April 1 in Jefferson City.
Tusculum (6-12, 3-2 SACC) makes the quick turnaround to take part in the Shoals Beach Bash this weekend (Mar. 27-28) in Florence, Alabama. The Pioneers will rematch with Austin Peay and Eastern Kentucky on Friday before facing Spring Hill and the hosting North Alabama on Saturday.
The 4's of Siri Aasgard and Ally Doty dropped their matchup 21-12, 21-17 to give C-N the first point of the match.
In the exhibition sixth flight, Sofia Richmond and Solene Roussel suffered a 21-19, 21-13 setback.
Jordyn Anderson and Ryann Gallagher battled in the No. 5 slot, but came up short 21-14, 35-33.
Down 2-0 in the match, the top flight of Hannah Marsh and Sofia Vega Barrantes scored the lone point for TU. The pairing swept their Eagle opposites by scores of 21-17, 21-9.
Carson-Newman clinched the match with a victory at the No. 3 slot. Tusculum's Cooper George and Dasha Nikolaeva fell 21-16, 21-15.
The match was rounded out by the 2's. Brynn Smith and Sylvia Liszewski dropped a 21-14, 21-16 result.
