Jared Carter named Director of Sports Performance

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University has named Jared Carter its new Director of Sports Performance announced Josh Ealy, Vice President for Athletics.

Carter has 11 years of experience in the sports performance field including nine which have been at the intercollegiate level.

At Tusculum, he will oversee the development, implantation and oversight of the comprehensive sports performance program for Tusculum's 23 intercollegiate sports programs. He and his staff help student-athletes with the design and implementation of strength, agility, speed, flexibility and conditioning programs.

Along with his duties as Director of Sports Performance, Carter will also be the head coach of Tusculum's new weightlifting club program, which will begin during the 2026-27 academic year.

He comes to Tusculum after serving as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at South Atlantic Conference member Lincoln Memorial University. While in Harrogate, he had the direct oversight of all strength and conditioning programs for LMU's 23 sports programs.

Prior to Lincoln Memorial, he was the Director of Strength and Conditioning at SAC member Mars Hill University from 2021-2025. While at Mars Hill, he started the weightlifting club team in which the women's team won a national championship during the 2025 season by the most points in USA Weightlifting history. The Lions' co-ed team lost by one point and were national runner-ups.

He served as the interim head strength and conditioning coach at Emory & Henry University during the 2021 spring semester. He also served as a strength and conditioning intern with the Wasps from 2016-2017.

After serving as a Strength and Conditioning graduate assistant at Shorter University from 2017-2018, Carter was named the Head Performance Coach for the Chinese Olympic Committee. He developed and oversaw all strength and conditioning programs for the national mountain bike team and prepared both Olympic and national athletes to compete at the international level.

In October 2019, Carter was named the Director of Strength and Conditioning at the FC Barça Residency located in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Carter graduated from Emory & Henry in May 2017 with a Bachelor's in Religion while minoring in Human and Health Performance. While at Emory & Henry, the Gate City, Virginia native was a two-year letterman for both the football team and men's tennis program.

He earned his Master's degree from Liberty University in December 2020 in Exercise Science and Wellness.

Carter is a registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) through the NSCA, followed by his CSCS through the NCSA.
