Golf coach's son turns birthday wish into funds for wishes for others

Golf coach's son turns birthday wish into funds for wishes for others

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Make-A-Wish Foundation got a special donation from a very thoughtful Pioneer.

Colby Cash, the 11-year old son of Tusculum University men's golf coach Ross Cash, was inspired by the philanthropic efforts of Tusculum's Pioneer Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (PSAAC).

During Tusculum's Jan. 16th "Pack the Arena" Night, PSAAC revealed the wish of an area child at halftime, which was to go on an ocean cruise.

On his own, Colby suggested to his parents that he would like to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation in some way and would like to ask that all the money going towards presents for his upcoming birthday party be donated to the organization that grants the wishes of terminally ill children.

Word spread to his friends and family so in lieu of purchasing a birthday present for him, Colby collected $195 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"Colby said all he wanted for his birthday was to have his closest friends over for a Marvel movie marathon and a 'junk food cookie cake'," said Coach Cash. "It was very special to both me and Heather (his mother) and he suggested it all on his own. He is a great son and has a giant heart. We couldn't be more proud of him."
