Jason Morris joins the Pioneer volleyball staff just ahead of the 2019 season.
Raised in Ocala, Fla., Morris graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy at the College of Central Florida and went on to become a Sheriff’s Deputy. While enrolled in the Academy, he began playing competitive beach volleyball, winning numerous tournaments around the state of Florida.
After several years as an officer, Morris left to begin coaching volleyball full-time. He started his coaching career at Vanguard High School (2009-16) and was one of the four founding members of the Ocala Power Volleyball Academy. In his eight seasons at the Ocala school, he coached a final four team (2010), back-to-back state champions (2012 & 2013), and two runner-up squads (2014 & 2016). Morris was the 2013 Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year and the 2016 AVCA District Coach of the Year.
While at Ocala Power, a number of his teams qualified for USA Volleyball nationals with the 2013 and 2018 squads winning the championship. Morris won six USAV national qualifiers as a coach, including the JVA World Championship in 18’s Premier Division in 2018 and the 2019 Music City Qualifier in Nashville. He also has the 2012 AAU national championship to his credit.
Following many successful high school and AAU seasons, Morris left to become a Volunteer Assistant at Marshall. From 2017-19, he helped coach the team’s only two all-conference players during the span.
