ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University junior midfielder Juliette Cusano has been selected the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week in women's lacrosse for the week ending April 7, the SAC announced Monday.
Cusano scored 16 goals in two matches last week for the Pioneers, including the 100th of her career, and in the process set the school single-season record for goals. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native had seven goals in the Pioneers' 16-15 win at Mars Hill on Tuesday, and followed up with a career-best nine goals and an assist for 10 points in the Pioneers' 22-19 loss at Coker on Saturday.
Cusano's first goal against Coker made her the third player in school history to reach the 100-goal milestone, and her ninth and final goal was her 55th of the season which broke the program single-season record of 54 set in 2015 by Kelsey Crow. Her nine goals and 10 points are each the second-most in a single game in program history.
Cusano's 55 goals led the SAC and she ranks second in the conference with 61 points. She is third in the league with 59 draw controls and shares the SAC lead with 20 free-position goals. At Tusculum, Cusano is third in career goals with 108 and fourth in points with 124, while ranking second all-time with 152 draw controls and sixth with 76 ground balls.
The Pioneers (4-9, 2-3 SAC) host Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
