Ashley Rodriguez joined the Tusculum Pioneer staff as a women’s basketball graduate assistant in 2019.
Rodriguez, a four-year member of the Lenoir-Rhyne women’s basketball team, graduated in May 2019 with a degree in human and community service, minoring in sociology and psychology. While a Bear, she was named team captain, appeared in a SAC Tournament semifinal, and was on the Division II WBCA Academic Top-25 Honor Roll. Rodriguez excelled as a three-pointer shooter for the team, while also making the Dean’s List. Lenoir-Rhyne raised the most money across the conference for the Make-A-Wish foundation in 2017-18 and led the division in money raised for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for two years (2015-17).
Rodriguez spent her senior year as a Residential Assistant at Lenoir-Rhyne and was the representative for the squad on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for two season. The Orlando, Florida native was the recipient of the Lenoir-Rhyne Scholar-Athlete award in 2018, presented at the Homecoming Gala.
For two years, Rodriguez was a camp counselor and coach for the Cam Sealey Top Prospect Camp, hosted by the Lenoir-Rhyne head women’s basketball coach. She also spent time as a coach, speaker, and instructor at International Basketball Training in her hometown.
In the Hickory, North Carolina community, Rodriguez served with the Lunch Buddy Program, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, and in the soup kitchen.
