Pioneers up to fifth in D2SIDA Southeast Region Poll

DURANGO, Colo. --- The Tusculum women's basketball team moved up one spot to fifth in the latest D2SIDA Southeast Region Media Poll, through games of Dec. 17.

The Pioneers (8-3, 3-2 SAC) picked up an 88-77 win over Coker on Wednesday, then lost to 14th-ranked Wingate 83-69 on the road on Saturday.

Carson-Newman earned a pair of victories to improve to 13-0 and maintain their unanimous hold on the top spot in the region rankings, followed by Wingate (9-1), Lander (7-2), Limestone (8-2) and Tusculum. The rest of the top 10 consists of Columbus State (4-2), Anderson (8-4), North Georgia (6-2), Belmont Abbey (7-3) and poll newcomer Flagler (4-2).

Tusculum closes out the 2017 portion of its schedule on Tuesday morning with an exhibition game at UNC Greensboro, which tips off at 11 a.m. The Pioneers' next regular-season game is Wednesday, January 3 at Mars Hill.
