Joseph, DeHart named Bojangles Athletes of the Week

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum football running back Maxwell Joseph and soccer forward Payton DeHart have been named the Bojangles Athletes of the Week.

Joseph, a sophomore from Naples, Florida, rushed for 123 yards on 21 carries, including three touchdowns in the Pioneers' 39-12 home-opening win over Shorter on Saturday.  Joseph averaged 5.7 yards per carry and scored on TD runs covering one, seven and 25 yards.  His three rushing touchdowns are tied for the fourth-most in a TC single-game.

On the season, Joseph is averaging 85.5 rushing yards per game which are fourth in the South Atlantic Conference. His four rushing touchdowns are the most in the league.

DeHart scored two goals, including the match-winner with 7:28 left in the second half, as Tusculum defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 2-1 in non-conference women's soccer action last Wednesday night at Pioneer Field. Her first goal came as she collected a loose ball in the box and scored at 11:44 to give Tusculum a 1-0 lead. The second goal from DeHart was the result of a shot off the post that caromed to her in the box, and the Nixa, Missouri was able to trickle the ball over the line for the match-winner at 82:32.

The goals were the first two of the season for DeHart, giving her 10 career goals in 29 starts including four game-winning tallies.

The Tusculum College Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Bojangles, located at 3240 Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville.  The Bojangles Athlete of the Week Award honors one male and one female athlete each week from an in-season sport.
