WOMEN'S SOCCER SEEDED FIFTH IN SAC TOURNMAENT, FACE LENOIR-RHYNE IN REMATCH TUESDAY

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The official pairings for the 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament have been announced and Tusculum will be the fifth seed in this year’s event. The Pioneers (10-8-1) will play at No. 4 seed Lenoir-Rhyne this Tuesday in a quarterfinal match in Hickory, N.C. The start time for Tuesday’s match has yet to be determined.

Tusculum, Lincoln Memorial and Newberry finished in a three-way tie for fifth place. All three went 1-1 against the other two and all three lost to top-seed Carson-Newman. Tusculum’s 2-1 overtime victory over second-seed Catawba earned the Pioneers the fifth seed, while Newberry and Lincoln Memorial both lost to Catawba. Lincoln Memorial took the sixth seed by virtue of its 2-1 overtime win over Newberry.

Tuesday’s quarterfinal will mark the second time in four days that the Pioneers and Bears (12-5-2) will square off. L-R defeated Tusculum 3-1 in Saturday’s regular-season finale in Greeneville.

The winner of the Tusculum/Lenoir-Rhyne match will advance to Friday’s SAC Tournament semifinal against either top-seed Carson-Newman or No. 8 Mars Hill. The semifinal and final rounds will be held at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C.
