WOMEN'S SOCCER ON THE ROAD FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WEEKOctober 7, 2008GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tusculum College women’s soccer will look to rebound from a pair of tough conference losses last week when it squares off against two familiar opponents this week in South Atlantic Conference opponent Mars Hill College, and Pfeiffer University on the road.
Senior forward Kelly Barron eclipsed 10 goals for the first time in her career last week, scoring the Pioneers’ lone goal against Carson-Newman on Wednesday. The goal was the 28th of Barron’s career which moves her into a tie with Becky Carreiro for fourth in program history. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Barron is also among the top 10 in program history in points, currently ranked sixth with 68 career points.
Sophomore midfielder Courtney Turner has been a consistent presence on the pitch for the Pioneers this season, entering the week as one of five players that have played more than 750 minutes this season. The Coco Beach, Fla. native is currently tied for third on the team with two goals this season, and is tied for fifth with six points through 11 matches.
The Pioneers begin the week with a SAC matchup on the road against Mars Hill on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Tusculum then travels to Misenheimer, N.C. to take on Pfeiffer University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
