TANNER NAMED SAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR SECOND TIMESeptember 30, 2008ROCK HILL, S.C. – Tusculum College women’s soccer player Danielle Tanner is honored this week as the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the second time this season, announced league officials on Tuesday.
The 5-7 forward found the back of the net four times last week, scoring a pair of goals in each of TC’s two matches against SAC opponents Lincoln Memorial University and Brevard College to raise her season total to 12 goals.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Tanner tallied two goals and one assist in the Pioneers’ 3-0 shutout of LMU on Wednesday, netting the match-winner in the 21st minute. Tanner duplicated the feat in TC’s 5-1 win over Brevard on Saturday to move into fourth all-time in the program’s history with 75 career points. The senior attacker currently leads the black and orange with 12 goals, four assists and 28 points so far this season.
The Pioneers resume their season on Wednesday night when they travel to Jefferson City, Tenn. to take on SAC rival Carson-Newman at Burke-Tarr Stadium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
