GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Kelly Barron and Danielle Tanner each recorded hat-tricks as the Tusculum College women’s soccer team blanked visiting Southern Virginia 12-0 Wednesday night at Pioneer Field. Tusculum improves to 3-3-1 on the season, while the Knights fall to 1-2 on the year.
The 12-goal-outburst is tied for the third most in Tusculum history.
Seven different TC players scored a goal on the day, as the Pioneers out-shot the Knights by a whopping 52-3 margin. The eight assists posted by TC are the sixth most in a single-match for the Pioneers, while the 32 total points are fifth in the Tusculum record book.
Barron accounted for eight points in the fray (3 goals, 2 assists), which is tied for the third most in school history. Tanner finished with seven points in the match, which ties her for seventh most in a TC match.
Rachelle Luster accounted for a pair of goals and an assist, while Amber Bradley and Courtney Turner tallied a goal and an assist each. Claire Duncan and Ashley Bradford also found the back of the net, while Nicole Ferris and Michelle Meade tallied an assist each in the victory.
Keepers Vanessa Fyffe and Megan Kurtz each recorded a half of action as the duo combined on the shutout. Southern Virginia net-minder Arianne Johnson played tallied 15 saves in her 81 minutes in goal.
Tusculum opens its South Atlantic Conference schedule next Wednesday when it hosts Lincoln Memorial for a 7 p.m. match at Pioneer Field.
