COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Tusculum College women’s soccer team is on the road this weekend at the Cougar Invitational hosted by Columbus State University where it will play a pair of matches against Georgia College & State University and defending NCAA II national champion the University of Tampa.

The Pioneers square off against the Bobcats of Georgia College & State on Friday night at 6 p.m. having posted a 1-1 record thus far in 2008 following a 9-1 win over Mount Olive on Aug. 31. The Bobcats, meanwhile, enter tonight’s match with a 0-0-1 mark this season following a 0-0 tie with Belmont Abbey on Aug. 29.

Tusculum will then face no. 6 Tampa on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. in a rematch of the 2006 NCAA II National Quarterfinal in which the Spartans shutout the Pioneers 5-0 to advance to the national semifinals. The Spartans enter the weekend with a 1-1 record after shutting out Ferris State 3-0 on Aug. 31.
