FIVE PIONEERS NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-SAC WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Five Tusculum College players have been named to the Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference Women’s Soccer team announced league officials Wednesday morning.

The Pioneers placed three on the All-SAC First Team, including forward Danielle Tanner, midfielder Courtney Turner and defender Nicole Ferris. Earning spots on the All-SAC Second Team are midfielder Elisha Robertson and defender Heather Craft.

Tanner, a senior from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, led the Pioneers in five statistical categories last season, including goals (21), points (47), and match-winning goals (8). The 5-7 forward also was named to the all-SAC First Team, as well as the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Team and the NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region First Team.

A sophomore from Cocoa Beach, Fla., Turner became the fourth player in the program’s history to earn NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II All-America honors, being selected to the third team. The 5-3 midfielder finished second on the team in goals (5) and points (15) while leading TC in assists (5) en route to a NSCAA/adidas NCAA II All-Southeast Region First Team selection as well as an All-SAC First Team performance.

A native of Lebanon, Ohio, Ferris was named the 2007 SAC Scholar Athlete for Women’s Soccer, while also being selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team.

A 5-3 sophomore midfielder, Robertson started 21 matches for the Pioneers last season, finding the back of the net twice and finishing seventh on the team with five points. The Sarasota, Fla. native also finished tied for second in match-winning goals (2).

Rounding out the Preseason All-SAC selections for the Pioneers is Craft, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio. The 5-6 defender started in 21 matches last season on the back line, tallying one goal and an assist to finish the season ninth on the team in points (3).
