Tusculum ranked eighth in NSCAA Southeast Region poll

KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- On the strength of a three-match winning streak, the Tusculum College women's soccer team is ranked eighth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire Division II Southeast Region rankings, released Tuesday.
The Pioneers (6-3-0 overall, 2-0-0 South Atlantic Conference) claimed shutout victories over SAC opponents Brevard (3-0) and Newberry (3-0) last week to make their first appearance in the regional rankings this season. Tusculum kicked off its three-game winning streak with a 3-1 victory over Concord on Sept. 21.
The Pioneers' three losses have come to nationally-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State (7-2-1) and regionally-ranked Nova Southeastern (7-2-1) and Columbus State (6-3-2), while two of their wins have come against Lees-McRae (6-2-1) and Newberry (6-3-0), who share 10th place in this week's Southeast Region rankings.
Lenoir-Rhyne (8-1-0) holds the top spot in the regional rankings, followed by North Georgia (9-0-0), Armstrong Atlantic State, Lander (8-1-1) and UNC Pembroke (7-2-1) in the top five. Columbus State is sixth, with Flagler (6-4-0), Tusculum and Mount Olive (6-1-1) in positions seven through nine and Lees-McRae and Newberry wrapping up in tenth.
The Pioneers will seek to extend their win streak to four when they host Mars Hill Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
