GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The No. 16 Armstrong Atlantic State University women’s soccer team scored three first-half goals en route to a 4-1 win over Tusculum College Monday afternoon at the Niswonger Sports Complex / Pioneer Field.

The Pirates (3-0-1) were led by Kristina Pascutti’s one goal and assist in the victory.  Pascutti recorded her team-leading fifth goal in the 15th minute to put AASU on the board.  Andye Dawson added another goal in the 36th minute, while Danielle Fey followed with her second goal of 2010 in the 43rd minute as the Pirates led 3-0 at the intermission.

The Pioneers (1-3) came out firing in the second half as  Tusculum controlled possession for most of the final period with TC out-shooting Armstrong Atlantic by a 13-10 margin in the last frame.

But the AASU defense held and Erin O’Rourke countered with the visitors' final scoring tally in the 73rd minute, which was assisted by Pascutti.

Tusculum’s Patience Leonard notched her first goal of the season when she converted an AASU turnover the visitor’s attacking third and found the back of the net in the 87th minute, past the diving Meghan Mayville to spoil the shutout.

Of Tusculum’s four matches this season, two have come against nationally-ranked opposition.

The Pioneers return to the pitch this Friday afternoon as TC takes on perennial national power Tampa at 4:30 p.m.  The match will be played on the campus of Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga.
