INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College guard Kyle Moore is listed in three categories in this week’s NCAA Division II men’s basketball statistics.
Moore, a senior from Gainesville, Fla., has emerged as one of the top three-point threats in the nation the past two seasons. The 2009 South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year is averaging 3.3 treys per game, which is second in the league and 18th in the country.
The two-time All-Conference standout is also 21st in the nation in scoring, averaging 21.8 points per game. He is also 42nd in the country in three-point field goal percentage, gunning 43.5 percent from behind the arc.
The Pioneers (6-6, 1-1 SAC) continue to boast one of the best defensive squads in the country. Tusculum is limiting the opposition to only 60.1 points per game this season, which is tops in the conference and 24th in the nation. The Pioneers have held their opponents to 60 points or less on seven occasions, including Saturday’s 74-47 win at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
When it comes to three-point shooting, Tusculum has proven to be one of the best in the SAC in shooting the three as well as defending from beyond the arc. TC is averaging 39 percent from three-point territory, which is 42nd in the nation. But when defending against the three-point shot, Tusculum is 12th in the land, limiting opponents to shoo on 26.5 percent.
The Pioneers begin a four-game home-stand this Wednesday as Tusculum hosts in-state rival Lincoln Memorial University for an 8 p.m. contest.
