Kyle Moore Named to Division II Bulletin Preseason All-America Team

BEAVERTON, Ore. --- Tusculum College guard Kyle Moore has been named to the 2009-10 Division II Bulletin Preseason All-America Men’s Basketball Team.  Moore, a 6-3, 185-pound senior from Gainesville, Fla., is listed as one of the “Super 16” NCAA Division II basketball players in the country according to Division II Bulletin.

Moore, the 2008-09 South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, led the league in scoring last season, averaging 21.1 points per game, while establishing a pair of league records with 101 three-point field goals made and 203 made free throws.  In just two seasons, Moore has recorded 1,120 points, which are 15th in Tusculum history.  Moore was named to last year’s Division II Bulletin All-America squad, becoming the first player in school history to garner DII All-America distinction.

Earlier this month, Moore was also named to The Sporting News Preseason Division II All-America Team.

Joining Moore on the “Super 16” list are Lucas Alves (BYU-Hawaii), Drake Beranek (Nebraksa-Kearney), Brandon Brown (Cal State-San Bernardino), Tyrone Curnell (Valdosta State), Stephen Dennis (Kutztown), James Dillard (Johnson C. Smith), Kendrick Easley (Mount Olive), Lawrence Ekperigan (LeMoyne), Aaron Hill (Rockhurst), Jason Jones (Northeastern State), Justin Keenan (Ferris State), Travis Nelson (Minnesota State-Mankato), Matt Rogers (Southwest Baptist), Jason Westrol (Bentley) and Nick Wolf (Rollins).  Two players from the South Atlantic Conference, Antonio Houston (Catawba) and Jonathan Whitson (Brevard) garnered preseason honorable mention recognition.

The Pioneers return four starters from last year’s 20-11 squad, the program’s first 20-win season in 16 years.  Tusculum posted an eight-game winning streak en route to earning an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament.  Tusculum is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation according to this year’s Division II Bulletin preseason poll.  It is the Pioneers best ranking in school history.

Tusculum tips off its season Nov. 16 when they host Tennessee Wesleyan at Pioneer Arena, beginning at 8 p.m.
